We are WiSE, Women in Science & Engineering

We are WISE, we aim to support women in the university through a range of events and opportunities, including both social and career based events. We also run outreach programs with local schools where we take voluntary members of our society into girls’ schools science clubs and get them to deliver a science session, empowering younger girls and giving our members a sense of purpose & community.

A Bit About Us

We run hands-on outreach sessions in local girls’ schools, leading exciting and interactive science club workshops, from making slime to setting up lava lamps, all designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and show young girls that science is creative, accessible, and fun while also giving our volunteers an interesting experience!

Our society is dedicated to building a welcoming and inclusive community for women in any STEM degree. Through regular socials, competitions, and networking events, we create a supportive space where members can connect, share experiences, and build long-lasting friendships and professional networks.

WiSE actively collaborates with societies across the university. including oSTEM and BEAMS, with whom we host the annual Equal in STEM conference, bringing students and professionals together to champion inclusion, share experiences, and showcase the range of pathways available in STEM in panels.

Our outreach work was recognised in previous years, with multiple awards celebrating the impact and dedication of our outreach officers and volunteers!
