Meet Oxwest Oxford Women in engineering, science and technology
OxWEST is a student-led community championing women and gender minorities in engineering, science, and technology at Oxford. We create opportunities for personal and professional growth through networking, mentorship, and skills-building events. By fostering visibility, confidence, and collaboration, we empower our members to pursue impactful STEM careers and drive positive change within the university and beyond, for the wider community too.
A Bit About Us
Females in Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST) was founded in September 2005. After lengthy coffee breaks discussing the future of our careers and the difficulties we were already encountering, we realised that the University of Oxford needs a strong, visible support network for women in science, engineering and technology (SET)
FEST was renamed to Oxford Females in Engineering, Science, and Technology (OxFEST) in 2010.
OxWEST aims to raise awareness to current issues facing women scientists, provide a support network and networking opportunities for female scientists, increase the visibility of women scientists within the University of Oxford and associated Institutes, and provide information and resources, which may aid women in pursuing their careers.
The OxWEST Mentoring programme connects women* and non-binary Oxford students studying STEM subjects at any level with industry experts, academic leaders, or experienced students. This will enable students to make better career choices and allow mentors to connect with young talents.
