Welcome to Innova Society
Innova is an award-winning society driven by innovation with 100+ members and provides a platform for like-minded individuals to collaborate and work together on innovative STEM projects on themes ranging from space and robotics to sustainability and environment. We offer a mix of projects, both theoretical and practical to its members, which can be submitted externally to industries as part of competitions or
within the society.
A Bit About Us
We won the University of Leicester’s Students Union’s Best Creative Innovation Award 2024 and received the Student Group Collaboration of the Year Award in 2022.
Our society is open to students from all courses, including those pursuing Foundation, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programs.
Since its establishment in 2021 with just four members, the society has grown significantly, now boasting over 200 sign-ups.
Innova is proud to be the only Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) On Campus branch in Leicester.
Events
Innova has organized fun-filled, exciting outings and socials in Leicester and around the UK relating to sparking new and sustainable ideas, and to dwine down and reconnect amongst members and even alumni-members.
Trips/Socials have been done to companies like ENVA- a sustainable waste
management company; Leicester National Space Centre, an all day trip in London
visiting the Science Museum, Buckingham Palace, and Hyde Park; and most
recently Bradgate Park in Leicestershire, etc.
Events: Innova has hosted and has been involved in several events such as:
Innova Sustainable Innovation Challenge2025: Innova hosted participants
who proffered sustainable innovations towards hand-picked Sustainable
Development goals and the best innovation idea was presented with an
award.
Go Green Day 2025: Innova partook in this campus event by showcasing our
technology as it’s tackles world problems, following with Innova’s President,
Mohammed giving a speech on how students could integrate the UN’s
Sustainable Development Goals into their daily lives.
NSSC 2025: A 2-day conference where Innova showcased their amazing
sustainable projects on a stall while engaging with industry professionals and
exploring cutting-edge advancements in space.
Join Us
All University and non-University students are welcome to join the society. Student Membership is obtained through the Students Union Website on the Innova Society’s page which costs £5 for the 2025/2026 session, while external membership enquiries are obtained by contacting the email address, innovaleicester@gmail.com
